Adds letter carriers to the list of protected employees under Alabama's assault in the second degree statute (Section 13A-6-21), making it a Class C felony to intentionally cause physical injury to a letter carrier while performing their duties.

Letter carrier is defined by reference to Section 32-6-380 of the Alabama Code.

Assault in the second degree remains classified as a Class C felony.

Bill becomes effective October 1, 2024.

Exempted from local expenditure requirements under Alabama Constitution Section 111.05 because it defines a new crime or amends an existing crime definition.
