Commends Gunnar Randal Henderson, born June 29, 2001, in Montgomery, Alabama, for winning the 2023 Silver Slugger Award and unanimously winning the 2023 Jackie Robinson American League Rookie of the Year Award.

Henderson was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round (42nd overall pick) of the 2019 MLB draft and made his major league debut on August 31, 2022.

In the 2023 season, Henderson finished with 28 home runs, 82 RBIs, .814 OPS, and a .255 AVG, set the Orioles' rookie record for extra base hits at 66, and hit a 462-foot home run at Camden Yards.

Henderson was named the number one prospect in Major League Baseball entering the 2023 season and became the seventh Oriole to win the Rookie of the Year award.

The Legislature commends Henderson's dedication and athletic achievements as an example to young athletes across the country.
