Commends Coach Kate Wood for being named Alabama's 2023 Volleyball Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Coach Wood served as head coach of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School's Dirty Dozen volleyball team for 10 years, leading the team to the final four every year and winning four State Titles in 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023.

Under her leadership, the Dirty Dozen accumulated 414 victories and only 85 losses, with 20 players advancing to collegiate play.

Coach Wood previously coached at Lamar High School in Texas, where she led the team to playoffs in the highest classification and was named District Coach of the Year in 2010.

Her club volleyball program includes 28 teams in age divisions 11U-18U, with 17 qualifying for USA Volleyball Junior National Tournament.
