Recognizes the Alabama Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program as a model of best practice for crisis response, commending the leadership of NAMI Alabama CIT Division and the State CIT Steering Committee.

CIT training consists of a 40-hour curriculum completed in one week based on the Bureau of Justice Assistance's "Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT)" standards.

The CIT program is proven to reduce physical confrontation and use of force, improve officer safety, decrease injuries, and reduce arrests and detention of individuals in psychiatric crisis.

Encourages law enforcement agencies and community mental health centers to work together with community partners to establish active CIT programs statewide.

Directs distribution of the resolution to the Alabama Police Chief Association, Alabama Sheriff's Association, ALEA, APOSTC, and the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
