Alabama acknowledges a border crisis at the southern border and pledges support for Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico's efforts to secure it.

Over 5.8 million illegal crossings occurred at the southern border since January 2021, with more than 10,800 convicted criminals arrested during fiscal year 2023.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 14,599 pounds of fentanyl, 175,410 pounds of methamphetamine, and 70,293 pounds of cocaine during fiscal year 2022.

More than two-thirds of the nation's 107,081 drug overdose deaths in 2022 were linked to illicit fentanyl and synthetic opioids smuggled across the southern border.

Governor Ivey has committed 275 Alabama National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to help address the crisis.
