Honors Easton Fothergill, University of Montevallo angler, for winning the 2023 Bassmaster College Classic Bracket Championship held September 29-October 2, 2023 at Milford Lake, Kansas.

Fothergill defeated Jack Alexander of Montevallo in Round 1, Hayden Marbut of Auburn in Round 2, and Tucker Smith of Auburn in the Championship Round with a final day catch of 11 pounds, 13 ounces.

Fothergill underwent emergency brain surgery for an abscess one month before the tournament at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital and returned to campus in late September to compete.

Fothergill is a member of the University of Montevallo's Outdoor Scholars Program, studying conservation, the environment, and game management.

Legislature of Alabama accords highest commendation to Fothergill for his perseverance in winning the championship only one month following brain surgery.
