Central High School Varsity Football Team is commended for winning the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 7A State Championship on December 6, 2023, defeating Thompson High School Warriors 21-19 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Team achieved an undefeated 13-0 season with 5,816 total yards gained, averaging 42.8 points per game while holding opponents to 12 points per game average.

Defensive performance included 16 forced turnovers, 42 sacks, 134 tackles for loss, and two shutouts; special teams made 73 of 77 extra point attempts and 5 of 8 field goal attempts.

Team finished ranked #25 in USA Today High School Sports Super 25 and secured the #1 spot in MaxPreps Alabama Division 7A rankings under Head Coach Patrick Nix.

This marks the third state championship for Central High School in the past 30 years.
