Alabama is home to over 800,000 working-age individuals with disabilities, with an employment rate of 38.1 percent compared to 78.1 percent for those without disabilities.

Each state agency, department, board, and commission is encouraged to use best efforts in recruitment, hiring, and advancement of individuals with disabilities.

State entities are encouraged to review their hiring practices to identify and eliminate non-job-related barriers to employment of individuals with disabilities.

Each state agency, department, board, and commission shall receive a copy of this resolution upon its passage.

Resolution passed by the House on March 7, 2024 and adopted by the Senate on April 2, 2024.
