Commends Superintendent Luther P. "Luke" Hallmark on his retirement after a 42-year career in education spanning teaching, coaching, and administration.

Hallmark served as head basketball coach at Demopolis High School starting in 1985, winning five area championships and two regional championships, and coached NBA player Theo Ratliff.

Served as principal at Greensboro West Elementary School from 1997 to 2000, then became Superintendent of Marengo County School District, a position he held for 24 years.

Received numerous awards including University of West Alabama Alumni Achievement Award, Kermit Johnson Award as Superintendent of the Year, Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International, and induction into the 2020 Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Held leadership positions on the Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control, PEEHIP Board, Teacher Retirement System Board, and served as a member of Auburn Alumni Association and both Demopolis and Linden Rotary Clubs.
