AL HR143

Creates the Alabama-Japan Legislative Exchange Group to pursue friendship and cooperation between Alabama House members and the people, government, and businesses of Japan.

Group composition includes one majority party representative appointed by the Speaker, one minority party representative appointed by the Minority Leader, and any other House members requesting membership with Speaker approval.

Initial meeting must be called by the Speaker no later than December 1, 2024, with subsequent meetings held at least once per calendar year and the option to meet electronically.

Group must submit annual reports to the Speaker by the tenth legislative day of each Regular Session, including recommendations and activities related to educational, cultural, and outreach initiatives with Japan.

Speaker of the House may dissolve the group at any time and the Clerk of the House shall provide administrative support for the group's operations.
