Commends Rainsville Chief of Police Michael Edmondson and the Rainsville Police Department for the city being named the third safest city in Alabama by SafeWise in its 2024 Safest Cities Report.

Rainsville improved its ranking from eighth place to third place compared to the previous year, based on violent crime and property crime statistics per population.

Rainsville reported only 0.7 violent crimes and 2.3 property crimes per 1,000 residents, with the safest cities on the list having an 84 percent lower crime rate than the rest of the state.

Recognizes Chief Edmondson's leadership and credits the mayor, city council, investigators, patrol officers, and dispatchers for their contributions to making Rainsville a safer community.
