Corporal Jeremy Alford, assigned to the Evergreen Highway Patrol Post, is recognized as a 2024 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement recipient, the state's highest law enforcement award.

On Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, Corporal Alford attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 65 southbound near the 101 mile marker; the driver lost control during the ensuing pursuit.

The driver produced a handgun and fired two shots that struck Corporal Alford in the face and right shoulder; Corporal Alford immediately returned fire, stopping the driver's movement and securing compliance from two passengers.

Despite his injuries, Corporal Alford remained calm and professional, instructing passengers out of the vehicle and providing updates to Mobile Communications before seeking medical attention.

The House of Representatives recognizes and honors Corporal Jeremy Alford for his heroic actions in preventing the subject from fleeing custody and endangering the public.
