Honors Easton Fothergill, a University of Montevallo student angler, for winning the 2023 Strike King Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket Championship at Milford Lake, Kansas, held September 29 to October 2, 2023.

Fothergill won the tournament with a final day catch of 11 pounds, 13 ounces, defeating Jack Alexander of Montevallo in Round 1, Hayden Marbut of Auburn in Round 2, and Tucker Smith of Auburn in the Championship Round.

Fothergill underwent emergency brain surgery at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for an abscess approximately one month before the championship tournament and recuperated in Minnesota before returning to campus in late September.

Fothergill is a member of the University of Montevallo's Outdoor Scholars Program, studying conservation, the environment, and game management.

The House of Representatives accords highest commendation to Fothergill in recognition of his perseverance in winning the championship only one month following brain surgery.
