SB105 Summary

• Adds members of FEMA-certified community emergency response teams to Alabama's Good Samaritan law, providing civil liability protection when rendering gratuitous emergency care at accident or disaster scenes.

• Extends liability immunity to licensed engineers, architects, surveyors, contractors, and subcontractors working under supervision during emergency response activities for FEMA-certified teams or emergency management agencies, limited to 90 days after emergency declaration.

• Replaces outdated terminology throughout Section 6-5-332 by changing "person" to "individual" for consistency and clarity in existing liability protections.

• Act becomes effective October 1, 2024.
