AL SB18

Creates a limited exception to Alabama's statute of limitations for individuals injured by sex offenses that occurred when they were below 19 years of age, allowing actions to be filed at any time if barred by the statute of limitations.

Restricts the exception to claims filed in a bankruptcy proceeding initiated on February 18, 2020, and only against the bankruptcy estate of a congressionally chartered organization.

Applies retroactively to sex offenses occurring prior to the effective date of the act, regardless of the statute of limitations in effect at the time the offense occurred.

Prohibits actions brought under this exception from being filed against any person or entity other than the entity seeking bankruptcy protection.

Expires and is repealed on December 31, 2026, becoming effective immediately upon passage.
