SB200 Summary

• Revises the Board of Nursing membership to add one certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) approved to engage in advanced practice nursing, reducing licensed professional nurses from eight to six members while maintaining total board size at 13 members.

• Requires the Governor to appoint the CRNA member from a list of at least two nominees furnished by the Board of Directors of the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists, with initial appointments beginning January 1, 2026.

• Makes nonsubstantive technical revisions throughout the statute, including updating terminology from "persons" to "individuals," "State of Alabama" to "this state," and modernizing language references.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2024.
