Alabama authorizes concurrent jurisdiction with the federal government over military installations within the state when children commit crimes that violate both federal law and state law.

Concurrent jurisdiction requires waiver of exclusive jurisdiction by the United States Attorney or United States District Court for the applicable district in Alabama.

Juvenile courts have exclusive original jurisdiction over delinquency cases involving children who commit crimes under state law within military installation boundaries once concurrent jurisdiction is established.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2024.
