AL SB27

Amends Alabama Code Section 17-16-2 to expand the definition of "election expenses" that counties must be reimbursed for by the state.

Adds new reimbursable expenses including: costs for electronic poll books (equipment, software, maintenance), electronic voting machines (transport, equipment, maintenance, storage), and polling place facility rental payments.

Establishes that the Election Expense Reimbursement Committee may approve additional reimbursable expenses beyond those specifically listed in the statute.

Applies to each primary and general election beginning with the November 5, 2024 election.

Becomes effective October 1, 2024.
