SB292 Summary

• Increases the threshold cost requiring general contractor licensure from $50,000 to $100,000 for construction, alteration, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, remediation, reclamation, or demolition projects.

• Applies the same $100,000 threshold increase to subcontractor licensure requirements under Alabama Code Section 34-8-1(c).

• Exempts labor brokers and temporary labor providers from licensing requirements when supplying temporary workers to licensed general contractors, provided workers remain under the contractor's supervision and control.

• Prohibits labor brokers and temporary labor providers from acting as subcontractors or assuming project scope of work as subcontractors.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2024.
