AL SB312

Allows inmates to participate in parole hearings virtually via video conference or similar communications equipment that permits inmates to see and hear Parole Board members.

Prohibits inmates from seeing, hearing, or interacting with victims, victims' families, or crime victim advocates who address the board or attend the hearing.

Requires hearings to be suspended if electronic communications fail or are interrupted until the connection is reestablished.

Permits inmates to waive their right to participate virtually.

Effective date: October 1, 2024.
