AL SB316

Authorizes the Sheriff of Montgomery County to establish procedures for making limited purchases of tangible personal property and services using a credit card issued to the Sheriff's Office.

Requires the sheriff to adopt written policies governing credit card use that include monetary limits on individual purchases and total monthly purchases, restricted access procedures, and accurate record-keeping reviewed during audits.

Mandates monthly review of credit card bills by the sheriff to detect unauthorized charges and requires full monthly payment to avoid service charges, late fees, or interest payments.

Directs the sheriff to select credit card providers considering annual fees, rewards or rebates, interest rates, service charges, finance charges, late fees, and termination penalties.

Requires any rewards or rebates earned from credit card use to be deposited into the Sheriff's Fund of Montgomery County; effective October 1, 2024.
