AL SB335

Prohibits persons from knowingly owning or possessing a firearm with parts designed or intended to convert it into a machine gun installed or attached to the firearm.

Defines "machine gun" using the same meaning as provided in 26 U.S.C. § 5845 (federal law).

Violation constitutes a Class C felony.

Exempts state and local law enforcement officers acting in official capacity and persons lawfully owning conversion parts under federal law.

Requires the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency to make reasonable efforts to notify the public of the prohibition and penalties until October 1, 2025; becomes effective October 1, 2024.
