Amends Section 13A-10-241 of the Alabama Code to expand the crime of making a terrorist threat in the first degree by adding a new victim category: elected public officials or their staff.

Maintains existing elements of the crime, which requires a credible threat to commit violence or property damage using specified weapons and occurrence of at least one of four triggering circumstances.

The threat against elected public officials or their staff becomes a Class C felony, consistent with the existing classification for other terrorist threat violations.

Becomes effective October 1, 2024.

Excluded from Alabama constitutional requirements regarding local fund expenditures because it defines/amends the definition of an existing crime.
