Creates a full-time, compensated Dementia Services Coordinator position within the Department of Senior Services with salary set by the Commissioner and exempt from Section 36-6-6.

Coordinator shall evaluate dementia service coordination in Alabama, identify duplicate services, analyze dementia-related data from state agencies, and identify grant opportunities to expand services for individuals with dementia and their caregivers.

Coordinator must coordinate information and resources for Alabamians with dementia by improving public health outcomes, establishing interagency relationships, supporting dementia-specific staff training for law enforcement and health departments, and recommending service coordination strategies.

Coordinator shall streamline state government services for dementia care, coordinate Alzheimer's and dementia work groups, and oversee implementation of the State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Other Related Dementias in Alabama.

Coordinator must submit annual reports to the Senate Healthcare Committee and House Health Committee by the first day of each regular legislative session; act becomes effective October 1, 2024.
