Amends Section 36-27D-1 of the Alabama Code to require forfeiture of state retirement benefits for active or inactive members of the Employees' Retirement System, Teachers' Retirement System, or Judicial Retirement Fund convicted of sex offenses involving students or minors effective July 1, 2024.

Applies to convictions under Article 4A of Chapter 6 or Division 4 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 13A based on guilty plea, no contest plea, or final judgment by trial court.

Individuals forfeiting benefits receive a refund of their retirement contributions and applicable interest.

Retired members receiving benefits have their benefits suspended upon conviction; if benefits received have not exceeded contributions and interest, they receive a refund of remaining contributions and interest.

Trial courts must promptly provide written notice of convictions to the relevant retirement system boards, and retirement system officers and employees are granted immunity from civil or criminal liability for actions taken under this section.
