Honors Judge John Lawrence Carroll, a United States Marine Corps Veteran and Birmingham, Alabama resident who died on August 14, 2023, at age 79.

Recognizes his military service as a Marine Flight Officer who flew 230 combat missions during the Vietnam War, and his distinguished legal career including roles as Legal Director of the Southern Poverty Law Center, law professor, United States Magistrate Judge, and Dean of Cumberland School of Law.
