Both houses of the Alabama Legislature recess on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and reconvene at 6:00 p.m. the same day in the House of Representatives Chamber on the second floor of the Alabama State Capitol, 600 Dexter Avenue.

The joint session is convened for the purpose of hearing a message from Governor Kay Ivey.

A committee of three senators, named by the Presiding Officer of the Senate, and three representatives, named by the Speaker of the House, are appointed to wait upon and advise the Governor.

The appointed committee serves dual purposes: receiving the Governor's message and escorting the Governor to the House chamber for the joint session.
