Commends and congratulates the Jasper High School Girls Basketball Team and coaching staff for winning the AHSAA Class 5A State Basketball Championship, their first state title in program history

Team defeated Scottsboro High School 48-44 on March 2, 2024, at BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham, with senior Mia Hollingsworth earning tournament MVP honors and scoring the go-ahead basket with 4:01 remaining

2023-2024 season featured a 31-4 overall record (second-most wins in school history), went 6-0 in 5A Area 10 play, won Regular Season 5A Area 10 Championship and Northwest Regional Championship, and set AHSAA state record with 22 three-pointers made in a single game

Notable performers included sophomores Missy Odom (16 points, 7 rebounds) and seniors Hallie Harrell (12 points, 7 rebounds) and Idaysia Mercer (4 assists, 1 turnover), with three players selected to Class 5A Girls All-Tourney Team

Head Coach Blake Laney and Assistant Coaches Vess Hollingsworth and Jackee Key credited with developing players' skills and furthering tradition of superior play and sportsmanship
