HB130 Summary

• Continues the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists until October 1, 2027, pursuant to the Alabama Sunset Law.

• Requires that beginning June 1, 2025, as board member terms expire, the board shall be composed of seven members with one member residing in and appointed from each congressional district in Alabama.

• Specifies board member qualifications including U.S. citizenship, Alabama residency for at least five years, and minimum age of 25 years; requires board members (except initial board) to be licensed professional geologists.

• Establishes board member compensation of $100 per day plus mileage for actual meeting attendance and sets term limits of three years with a maximum of two consecutive terms without a three-year interruption.

• Directs the Governor to strive for diversity in board appointments based on race, gender, geography, residence, and economic condition.
