AL HB17

Creates the Alabama Squat Truck Law, prohibiting operation of passenger cars or trucks on state highways if the front fender height is raised 4 or more inches greater than the rear fender height through suspension, frame, or chassis alteration.

Defines fender height as a vertical measurement from and perpendicular to the ground, through the wheel centerline, to the bottom of the fender.

Exempts vehicle modifications made for bona fide commercial or agricultural purposes.

Establishes penalties including a fine of up to $50 for first conviction, up to $100 for second conviction, and $250 for third or subsequent convictions within the preceding five years.

Becomes effective October 1, 2025.
