County commissions may assume supervision and administration of county juvenile detention facilities upon written request from the presiding juvenile judge.

County commissions must adopt a resolution within 90 days of the act's effective date to assume control of the facility and its employees.

Commissions that assume control may hire a detention superintendent to manage the facility and its employees on behalf of the commission.

The Alabama Supreme Court shall review and revise the Rules of Juvenile Procedure as necessary to ensure compliance with this act.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage.
