AL HB2

Amends Section 22-8-4 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to require written consent from a parent or legal guardian before unemancipated minors can receive vaccinations.

Maintains existing law allowing minors age 14 or older, high school graduates, married individuals, divorced individuals, and pregnant minors to consent to other medical, dental, health, and mental health services without parental consent.

Creates exceptions allowing unemancipated minors to receive vaccinations without parental written consent if they are not dependent on a parent or legal guardian for support, or if they are living apart from their parents or guardian.

Becomes effective October 1, 2025.

Passed the House of Representatives on February 11, 2025, with a vote of 92 Yeas, 5 Nays, and 4 Abstains.
