HB208 Summary

• Authorizes the Secretary of Information Technology to adopt rules establishing and enforcing cybersecurity governance for state agencies, including supporting operations and technology controls.

• Requires the Secretary, in consultation with the Governor, to adopt rules creating and overseeing a technology quality assurance board to promote responsible and transparent procurement, development, and use of novel technologies including artificial intelligence in state agencies.

• Mandates the technology quality assurance board to establish ethical guidelines and frameworks, security and privacy controls, and ongoing compliance mechanisms for novel technologies used by state agencies.

• Adds cybersecurity coordination to the Secretary's duty to plan and coordinate information technology activities for state agencies to promote economical and effective use of state resources.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2025.
