AL HB26

Prohibits any person from knowingly possessing a pistol with parts designed or intended to convert it into a machine gun installed on or attached to the pistol.

Defines "machine gun" as any weapon that shoots or can be readily restored to shoot automatically more than one shot without manual reloading by a single trigger function, including frames, receivers, and parts that can be assembled into a machine gun.

Establishes violation as a Class C felony.

Exempts state and local law enforcement officers acting in official capacity, federally registered firearms under the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and devices that increase pistol rate of fire but do not enable more than two shots by a single trigger function.

Takes effect October 1, 2025.
