AL HB27

Prohibits adult sex offenders from accepting or maintaining employment or volunteer positions as first responders, including paramedics, firefighters, rescue squad members, emergency medical technicians, and other individuals who respond to emergencies.

Maintains existing restrictions preventing adult sex offenders from working or volunteering at schools, childcare facilities, mobile vending businesses serving children, amusement parks, water parks, and facilities within 2,000 feet of schools or childcare facilities.

Extends first responder employment prohibition to juvenile sex offenders during the time they are subject to registration requirements.

Makes it unlawful for owners or operators of childcare facilities or child-serving organizations to knowingly employ or accept volunteers who are sex offenders.

Establishes violations as Class C felonies and becomes effective October 1, 2025.
