Athletic associations must adjust a public high school's athletic classification to reflect the number of English language learner students who do not participate in interscholastic athletic events, for purposes of competition in championship programs and other athletic events.

The State Board of Education shall adopt rules to implement this classification adjustment requirement.

Athletic associations must include as non-voting members one House member from the minority party (appointed by the Speaker) and one Senate member (appointed by the President Pro Tempore).

The classification adjustments apply beginning with the 2026-2027 academic school year.

The act becomes effective June 1, 2025.
