Amends Alabama Code Section 13A-8-2 to add a new subsection (5) making it unlawful to knowingly obtain or exert unauthorized control over any item mailed or shipped to another person with intent to deprive the intended recipient of their property.

Adds package theft as a specific crime under the theft of property statute, addressing the taking of mailed or shipped items.

Maintains existing theft provisions related to unauthorized control of property, deception, law enforcement custody items, and charitable donations.

Preserves the five-year limitations period for prosecutions involving deception, which does not commence until discovery of the deceptive facts.

Takes effect on October 1, 2025.
