• Establishes the "Parental Right to Participate in Schools Act" permitting employees who are parents or guardians to take up to 48 hours of unpaid leave annually to attend school-related activities within a 12-month period.

• Defines eligible parents and guardians to include biological parents, individuals with legal custody, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and spouses or domestic partners of those individuals.

• Allows leave to cover parent-teacher conferences, school-sponsored performances, rehearsals, sporting events, and other school functions where the child is a participant.

• Requires employees to provide at least 10 days' advance written notice except when school-related activities are not reasonably foreseeable; permits employers to deny leave if granting it would create substantial business disruption.

• Mandates employers post and maintain workplace notice of the act with penalties of up to $100 per day for willful failure to post; authorizes the Alabama Department of Workforce to enforce the act and receive employee complaints; becomes effective October 1, 2025.
