AL HB42

Amends Section 15-13-111 of the Alabama Code to allow courts to accept partial cash bail deposits instead of requiring the full amount set by a judicial officer.

Court clerk may accept a cash deposit less than the total bail amount only upon approval of the judicial officer who set the bail.

Modifies the definition of "cash bail" to clarify that defendants may deposit cash "in an amount equal to a part or the total sum" of bail rather than the full amount.

Becomes effective on October 1, 2025.
