Applies only to Monroe County and establishes new qualifications for sheriff candidates effective June 1, 2025.

Requires candidates to be a U.S. citizen, county resident for at least one year, registered voter for one year, possess a high school diploma or GED, and be at least 25 years old.

Mandates three or more years of full-time law enforcement service certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission, with recertification required if separated from active duty for more than two consecutive years.

Prohibits candidates with felony convictions in Alabama or any jurisdiction where the offense would constitute a felony in Alabama.

Requires elected sheriffs to complete a minimum of 12 hours of executive level continuing education annually from the Alabama Sheriffs Association, National Sheriffs' Association, or other recognized law enforcement programs.
