HB572 Summary

• Escambia County Commission may levy an annual additional motor vehicle license and registration issuance fee of up to $5 on each new registration, transfer, or renewal effective January 1, 2026.

• County commission must decide whether to levy the fee prior to December 1, 2025, and the fee is limited to one continuing annual amount of up to $5.

• County license issuing officials shall collect the fee on each vehicle registration transaction, and the fee is in addition to all other existing fees, taxes, and charges.

• License issuing officials shall distribute all proceeds from the fee on a monthly basis to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund.

• The act becomes effective on June 1, 2025.
