• Increases the Marengo County coroner's monthly expense allowance from $400 to $1,000, effective June 1, 2025.

• Authorizes the Marengo County Commission by resolution to allow the coroner to appoint a deputy coroner, who receives an expense allowance set by the county commission paid monthly from the county general fund.

• Sets the mileage allowance for the coroner and deputy coroner at $0.22 per mile, payable from the county general fund.

• Permits the county commission to increase the expense allowance and mileage allowance for both the coroner and deputy coroner beginning October 1, 2026, and at the start of each fiscal year thereafter.

• All expense and mileage allowances under this law supersede any allowances provided by general state law, and accepting these allowances requires waiver of any other state-provided compensation.
