• Creates a permanent joint legislative committee to award the Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement and the Legislative Meritorious Service Award to law enforcement officers demonstrating extraordinary courage and exceptional service in the line of duty.

• Committee membership consists of 5 House members appointed by the Speaker of the House and 5 Senate members appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, with at least one member from each chamber representing the minority party.

• Committee members' terms coincide with their elected legislative terms, and appointing authorities must coordinate appointments to ensure membership reflects the state's racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity.

• Committee shall meet at least once every year, with the first meeting called by the Speaker of the House to elect a chair and vice chair; chair and vice chair elections occur at the first meeting of each four-year period.
