HR131 formally honors Dr. Prudence LaBeach Pollard for over a decade of exemplary achievements and service to Oakwood University and the Huntsville community.

Dr. Pollard served as First Lady of Oakwood University and held the position of Vice President for Quality Assurance, Research and Faculty Development from 2011 to 2024, while serving as Founding Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and tenured Professor of Management.

Dr. Pollard designed and launched the Oakwood University Leadership Academy (iLEAD) for executives and the Frontline Academy for staff, and created the HealthyCampus2020 initiative that earned Oakwood University the Crystal Apple Award from Michelle Obama's Partnership for a Healthier America in 2018.

Dr. Pollard holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Oakwood University, a Master in Public Health from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research Design from Western Michigan University, and is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association.

Dr. Pollard received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award from former President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on March 20, 2022, in recognition of her volunteer leadership and service to the nation.
