Honors Roy Brook, a Bessemer resident, for receiving the 2023 Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce and Hoover Veterans Committee Freedom Award.

Recognizes Brook's American Flag Project, in which he displays American flags at events including funerals for military members and first responders, benefit runs, celebrations, and political events throughout the Birmingham-Hoover area.

Acknowledges Brook's maintenance of two American flags on both sides of the Jonathan Michael (Mike) Gilotti Memorial Bridge on Alabama 150 near Lake Cyrus subdivision, with spotlights for nighttime visibility per flag protocol.

Commends Brook's decade of dedication since 2016, when he began the project after retiring from over 20 years of truck driving, inspired by witnessing flag disrespect on Memorial Day.

Accorded highest commendations to Brook for his service and contributions to the Birmingham-Hoover communities and all of Alabama in honoring military service members and demonstrating patriotism.
