Designate Thursday, April 3, 2025, as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Day at the Alabama Capitol.

Recognize Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, founded January 15, 1908, at Howard University as the first intercollegiate historically African American sorority with over 350,000 members in 1,024 chapters nationwide.

Honor the Omicron Omega Chapter, chartered October 24, 1924, in Birmingham as the 15th chapter nationally and first graduate chapter in the Southeastern Region, with current membership of 385.

Acknowledge the chapter's philanthropic contributions including over $1.5 million in charitable donations, over $500,000 in college scholarships to Birmingham-area students, and establishment of The Pearl Center ($1.6 million facility opened in 2022).

Recognize the chapter's oversight of five undergraduate chapters at Miles College, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Montevallo, Birmingham-Southern College, and Samford University.
