Congratulates Miss Prestley Skelton, an 11th-grade student at Jasper High School, for winning the 2025 American Legion Department of Alabama Oratorical Contest held on March 22, 2025, in Montgomery.

Miss Skelton won competitions at Post 23 in Graysville, the 21st District contest in Hoover, the 2nd Division contest in Hoover, and the state finals in Montgomery with her prepared oration "Defending the Constitution to Keep Our Freedoms" and assigned topic on "Amendment XIV, Section 1."

Earned a $2,500 scholarship for first-place finish in the state competition.

Will represent Alabama at the 2025 National High School Oratorical Contest Finals at Hillsdale College in Michigan on May 17-18, competing against 55 students worldwide for a chance to win a $25,000 scholarship.

House of Representatives extends highest commendations to Miss Skelton and wishes her continued success in all future endeavors.
