Commends Hamilton Elementary School in Marion County, Alabama for receiving the National Association of Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) State Program Administrators Distinguished Schools award.

Hamilton Elementary will be recognized at the ESEA Conference in Austin, Texas in February for exceptional student performance and achievement.

School was selected from Title I schools with high poverty rates that demonstrated improvement in student achievement rates.

Hamilton Elementary serves prekindergarten through fourth grade students plus a special needs preschool program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools.

School achieved an average student achievement rate of 68.63 percent over the last two years under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sutton and Principal Mr. Gary McCarley.
