Team 14180A, known as The Super Novas from Peter F. Alba Middle School, finished fourth out of 85 teams representing 17 countries and 40 states at the 2025 Middle School CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Team consists of five members: eighth graders Colton Murphree, Alex Howell, and Harbor Parnell, plus seventh graders Kaydence Porter and Zoe Collier.

Retired Staff Sergeant Wesley Porter served as team mentor and was named Mentor of the Year at the U.S. Open Robotics Tournament; he also received the Teacher of the Year award from SCORE (Southeastern Center for Robotics Education).

Team earned multiple awards including St. Martin's Jackets Teamwork Champion Award, MCPSS LOTC Excellence Award, Battle in the Bayou Innovate Award, MCPSS Robotics Challenge awards, and a 2025 Alabama State Invitational Invitation.
