SB162 Summary

• Twenty-five percent of Tennessee Valley Authority in-lieu-of-taxes payments for Marshall County shall be distributed to five school boards (Marshall County, Arab City, Guntersville City, Albertville City, and Boaz City) on a per-pupil basis.

• Four percent of the remaining 75 percent or $240,000 (whichever is greater) shall be allocated to the Marshall County Legislative Delegation Office, with unused funds available for educational or economic development purposes.

• Six percent of the remaining 71 percent or $247,000 (whichever is greater) shall fund the Marshall County Economic Development Office to recruit industries and employment opportunities.

• Specific allocations from remaining funds include $30,000 for school resource officers, $50,000 for Mountain Lakes Behavioral Health Care, $25,000 for Mountain Valley Council on the Arts, $25,000 for Snead State Community College, and various allocations to cities and organizations for ambulance services, domestic violence prevention, and senior services.

• The act becomes effective on June 1, 2025.
